Those living in the riding are likely aware that I have been the green MPP candidate in the last two provincial elections. In the 2018 election, I finished with the sixth best outcome out of all Green Party of Ontario candidates. Local members have also allowed me the honour of serving as our federal MP candidate in 2015 and 2019, in which I also had strong voter support. I did not seek to run in our recent snap federal election, wanting to focus on the provincial level, and other things in our local community. For our 2022 provincial election campaign, I asked that you grant me the privilege of again being your local green MPP candidate. I am honoured that the local party membership has voted to again allow me to represent them.
I was born and raised in this region, and I also attended our local college for the legal studies which aided in my being hired onto our Waterloo Regional Police Service. I proudly served you as a police officer for thirty years, and saw up close the problems we face. I know that solutions exist for many of the issues that we have perpetually ignored, because of weak political will to do what is necessary. We can have a stronger, more just and compassionate community.
Your concerns are my concerns. I am focused on promoting a healthy environment, taking action on climate change, promoting a strong future-focused clean economy, ending poverty and homelessness, and implementing a comprehensive public Healthcare that properly addresses mental health and drug addictions. Those who know me well, know that I believe electoral reform to bring in proportional representation is most important, as that change will allow many other improvements to be achieved - by having us work collaboratively for our common good. I will be working hard to improve our democracy, to fairly represent everyone.
With gratefulness of having your support as our local Green Party of Ontario MPP candidate, I ask that you to join me in making this campaign a defining one, which has me join Mike Schreiner at Queen's Park to be your strong voice. The more greens we elect, the stronger that voice will be.
Please donate what money you can, what time you can to volunteer, and share with your friends and family your enthusiasm for the wonderful possibilities that can become real, by voting green.
Please partner with me.
